Make sure your pedal has power. All JHS pedals run off 9V DC power. Guitar input is always on the right; output is always on the left.

All JHS pedals run on 9V DC center-negative power. Using an incorrect supply, including AC adapters, Line 6 power supplies, standard 1-Spot adapters, or 18V supplies, can damage your pedal and will not be covered under warranty.

For best results, use a regulated, isolated power supply such as those from Strymon, Voodoo Lab, or similar quality brands. A non-isolated supply can introduce hum, noise, or interference across your pedalboard.

For a full breakdown, see our How to Power Your Pedals guide.

If your pedal is cutting volume when engaged, verify all cables are fully seated and functioning. A continuity tester confirms a connection exists but will not reveal signal loss. Solder-less cables in particular are prone to this issue. Use quality, fully functional cables throughout your chain.

If your pedal will not power on, confirm you are using the correct supply. Power supplies that are not compatible with JHS pedals include Line 6 supplies, AC adapters, 1-Spot supplies, and 18V supplies. Use a quality, regulated 9V DC center-negative supply.

Run a single cable from your guitar directly into the pedal's input, and a single cable from the pedal's output into your amp with nothing else in the chain and a clean, isolated power supply. If the pedal works in isolation, the issue likely lies elsewhere in your rig. If it still does not function, proceed to the inquiry form below.

Frequently Asked Questions

As of September 2020, JHS Pedals offers a 4-year limited warranty (6 months for 3 Series pedals and DIY Kits) covering any defects in parts or internal components that affect the function or operation of your pedal. This warranty is non-transferable and requires registration through our warranty portal.

Domestic (USA)
  • Warranty repairs are covered at no cost to the customer, including return shipping.
  • Shipping labels are provided for pedals within the first 30 days of purchase. After 30 days, the customer is responsible for shipping the pedal to JHS.
  • Non-warranty repairs are available at reasonable rates; return shipping is included in all quoted repair costs.
International
  • International distributor warranty policies may supersede JHS's manufacturer warranty. Please contact your regional distributor for details.
  • All international repairs, warranty or non-warranty, are subject to a $25 return shipping fee.
What's Not Covered

The following are not covered under warranty but can be repaired by JHS at a reasonable cost:

  • Broken knobs, pots, or jacks resulting from physical abuse or mishandling.
  • Any damage resulting from tampering with internal trim pots. Several JHS pedals use trim pots that are factory-set for proper circuit operation. Adjusting these will void your warranty.
  • Any attempted repairs or modifications to the circuit not performed by JHS Pedals.
